TradePoint Sponsors London to Brighton Bike Ride

A team of eleven riders from TradePoint Systems formed part of the official entry of 27,000 cyclists that took part in the 2004 London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 20th June 2004. The testing 54-mile route from the capital to the coast was made all the more difficult by atrocious weather conditions on the day.

The annual event is emphatically not a race, with many riders in groups of friends and work colleagues. Some take the whole day to complete the ride, stopping off at pubs or for picnics along the way. Besides being a hugely enjoyable social event, it also raises millions every year for the British Heart Foundation. The TradePoint team managed to raise £2,000 in sponsorship towards the £2.5 million target set by the British Heart Foundation in their fight against heart disease. The TradePoint cyclists collected sponsorships and Kewill then doubled the total figure.

The British Heart Foundation funds research into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease. The charity relies on donations and fundraising events, such as the London to Brighton Bike Ride, to continue its pioneering work. Only the rider’s registration fee goes towards the cost of organizing the event, every penny raised in sponsor money is used in the fight against heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer.
