Dassault Inks Partnership for Open Standard Based on XML
Dassault Systemes and Lattice Technology have formed a long-term partnership, allowing Dassault to utilize Lattice's systems for creation of a universal 3D extensible markup language (XML) open format for product lifecycle management (PLM). Lattice becomes a Software Community Program partner of Dassault, developing and selling a suite of technical publication applications based on Dassault's CAA V5 (Component Application Architecture Version 5), enhanced with the new open format. As a result, users will be able to generate 3D manuals, parts lists, marketing brochures, assembly instructions and parts databases. The system will help to create 3D interactive Web pages or office documents enabling users to combine 3D data, 2D images, structured data, text and graphics together in a single lightweight document. The applications will work either connected with Dassault's SMARTEAM or ENOVIA databases, or in local mode. 3D XML for PLM will let users create and share live 3D V5 data quickly and easily in a lightweight XML format, the partners said.
