Customs houses and forwarders targeted by TradePoint

(January 10, 2002) TradePoint Systems LLC, a provider of software applications and services to the customs house brokerage and freight forwarding industry, has entered into an agreement with ClearCross, a global supply chain technology company, under which TradePoint has acquired the customer base and exclusive rights to sell, modify and support the QUESTA line of software to customs house brokers and freight forwarders.

The QUESTA family of integrated products run under Windows NT and utilise either SQL or Oracle databases. Products include customs house brokerage, freight forwarding, breakbulk, and accounting. The QUESTA line will complement TradePoint’s ALLIANCE family of brokerage and forwarding products that run on both Compaq and AS/400 servers.

As part of the agreement, TradePoint and ClearCross will work together to provide a smooth transition of the QUESTA products and customers to TradePoint’s technical and support environments. TradePoint will provide QUESTA users with help desk support, product enhancements, customs compliance, and custom product development services through its facilities in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Christopher Crane, president & CEO of TradePoint Systems LLC states: “We are pleased to welcome the QUESTA customers to TradePoint. We believe that our extensive support organisation along with the availability of our sophisticated WEB Tracking and Imaging products will greatly enhance the capabilities of the current QUESTA customers. We also believe that our ability to offer a full range of products on the NT platform to new prospects will complement our current architecture and enable us to continue to enhance our leadership position.”

“We wanted to ensure that our QUESTA customers would be well cared for as ClearCross sharpens its focus on our core products and vertical industries," says Bruce Johnson, CEO of ClearCross. "It has been a pleasure to work with the TradePoint team and we are confident that our customers will be satisfied."

In a related transaction TradePoint’s UK affiliate TradePoint Systems acquired the rights to the SPEX software and customer base. SPEX is an industry leading export documentation system.
