New service covers tracking
(April 19, 2002) TradePoint Systems LLC and Global TranXit
Inc (previously FreightDesk.com) have announced a joint venture to
provide worldwide online services for shipment tracking, purchase
order tracking, and supply chain management visibility 24/7 under
the name of TrackPoint.
From anywhere in the world TrackPoint allows buyers to enter part
numbers directly into the system via the Internet and receive
instant feedback as to what PO's contain the part numbers, what
shipments the part numbers are on, as well as the ETA of the
shipment(s), thereby allowing the buyer to turn the “black hole” of
their goods in transit into visible inventory. This same data
can also be downloaded to Consignee inventory systems to give
real-time updates to shop floor production managers. Customs
brokers benefit from data entered by their overseas Agents as
well. Once the information is entered or uploaded by the
overseas Agent, it is not only available for tracking, but can also
be downloaded by the Customs Broker to save data entry time.
Furthermore, with TrackPoint Customs Brokers and Freight
Forwarders around the globe are able to form groups or associations
to efficiently and cost-effectively manage a customer or a group of
customers, thereby providing them with the powerful tools necessary
to effectively compete against the multi-national Forwarders.
"TradePoint Systems has been developing and implementing systems
for Freight Forwarders and Customs House Brokers for over 30 years"
said Christopher Crane, President & CEO of TradePoint
Systems. "With TrackPoint our customers will have simple and
direct access to a complete set of Internet-based products allowing
them to offer a host of advanced supply chain management services to
their customers."
Kevin Gavin, President & CEO of Global TranXit states:
"Implementing systems to manage the process from the purchase order
to proof of delivery often fails because of the large effort
required to interface the parties together. Global TranXit and
TradePoint have developed interfaces that allow all TradePoint
customers easy access, along with simple standards and methods to
allow non-traditional TradePoint client’s access to TrackPoint as
well. Already we have 40 countries online and hundreds of
Buyers are benefiting from the service."
