Overview

The Ocean Commodity Maintenance database maintains the types of goods included in shipments. For Dangerous Goods commodities, you can enter in the different classifications so they default into the file.

 Note:  You can do a lookup to the Commodity maintenance table  from the Package Entry screen in the File Op and Job Op center.

 

Procedure

To build or maintain Ocean commodity file information, complete the following fields.

 

Field Name

Data Entry

Description

Commodity

Enter the 5-digit alphanumeric commodity code.

This is the commodity code.

Name

Enter the Commodity Name.

This is the commodity name that will display for verification purposes when the commodity code is entered.

Class No.

Enter the class number code.

Note:  Alliance only identifies a commodity as dangerous goods when a class number is specified.

This is the classification number code for dangerous goods. This code prints in the description box on all forms.

U. N. No.

Enter the U.N. number.

This is the U.N. code for dangerous goods.

Packing Group

Enter the Packing Group code.

This is the Packing Group code for dangerous goods.

I.M.D.G. Code

Enter the I.M.D.G. code.

This is the I.M.D.G. code for dangerous goods.

Flash Point

Enter the Flash Point code.

This is the Flash Point code for dangerous goods.

Blocked

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field enables/disables this record from being used for a shipment.

OK or Cancel

Select OK to update the changes you have made.  Select Cancel if you would like the system to disregard any changes you have made.

Selecting OK or Cancel will close the window.
