Ocean Package Type Maintenance

 

Overview

The Ocean Package Type Maintenance database maintains the types of ocean packages included in shipments. You can use this maintenance to define packages for LCL shipments (e.g., box, package, roll, and sack) and FCL shipments (e.g., container 20’, container 40’, and isotank 20’).

Note:  You can do a lookup to the Package Type maintenance table from the Pack Type field on the Packages screen.

 

Procedure

To build or maintain the types of ocean packages included in shipments, complete the following fields.

 

Field Name

Data Entry

Description

Package Type

Enter the 2-digit alphanumeric Package Type code.

This is the package type code.

Name

Enter the name of the package type.

This is the name or description of the package type. It will display for verification purposes when the Package Type code is entered.

Container Size

Click on the arrow to the right of this field to select a container size, or leave the field blank (if the package type is not a container).

This is the size of the container. Container sizes include

·         Container 20’

·         Container 40’

·         Container 45’

Note:  Leave this field blank if the package type is not a container.

Container Type

Double-click on the arrow or the field to select the container type from the lookup table, or enter a container type.

This is the type of container.

Max. Weight

Enter the maximum weight for this package type.

This is the maximum weight for this package type.

Note:  Alliance uses this information in the Build Manifest procedure to verify weight limits as groupage files are selected.

Max. Volume

Enter the maximum volume for this package type.

This is the maximum volume for this package type.

Note:  Alliance uses this information in the Build Manifest procedure to verify volume limits as groupage files are selected.

TEU

Enter the number of TEU’s in each container.

This is the number of TEUs (i.e., twenty each unit) in each container.

Note:  Alliance uses this information for statistics reports.

Ventil

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field indicates whether the package type requires ventilation.

Refr

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field indicates whether the package type requires refrigeration.

Block

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field enables/disables this record from being used for a shipment.

OK or Cancel

Select OK to update the changes you have made.  Select Cancel if you would like the system to disregard any changes you have made.

Selecting OK or Cancel will close the window.
