Overview

The Port Maintenance database maintains port information (i.e., both local and foreign) for your ocean shipments.

Note:  TradePoint supplies the foreign ports, but you must enter all necessary local ports (i.e., USA ports) and related local codes for AES purposes.

 

Procedure

To build or maintain port file information, complete the following fields.

 

Field Name

Data Entry

Description

Port

Enter the 5-digit alphanumeric port code.

This is the user-defined code associated with the port.

Note:  To build a US Port, you must add a zero to the beginning of the number (e.g., 0401 = 00401).

Name

Enter the name of the port.

This is the name of the port which displays for verification purposes when the port code is entered.

Country Code

Double-click on this field to select a country code from the lookup table, or enter a valid country code.

This is the country code associated with this port.

Default Agent

Double-click on this field to select a default agent from the lookup table, enter a valid agent, or leave this field blank.

This is the code for the overseas Agent that is operating from this port.

Note:  This agent defaults on the Job Entry screen when you select this port as the Unload Port.

Local Code

Enter the numeric local code.

This is the code of the port in the local Customs system.

No Consols

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field indicates whether consolidated shipments can be sent to or from this port.

Note:  If you select this box, you cannot enter a consolidation shipment from this port.

No Collect

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field indicates whether collect shipments can be sent to or from this port.

 

Note:  If you select this box, you cannot enter a Collect value in the Freight and Other fields on the General Entry screen for this port.

Time Zone

Click on the arrow to the right of this field to select a time zone, or enter a valid time zone.

This is the time zone to which this port belongs.

Note:  The time zone is necessary to compute the event date and time of events associated with this port.

Wareh. Port

Double click on this field to select a warehouse port from the lookup table, or enter the associated warehouse.

This field is used only in conjunction with the On Hands section.

Blocked

Select this box or leave it blank.

This field enables/disables this record from being used for a shipment.

OK or Cancel

Select OK to update the changes you have made.  Select Cancel if you would like the system to disregard any changes you have made.

Selecting OK or Cancel will close the window.
