SCAC Carrier Codes

SCAC Carrier Codes
|
Overview |
Every
transportation movement for imports and exports involves at least one (1)
carrier. Carrier codes are validated
when transmitted as part of the entry transactions to ABI and must be
accurate and valid. U.S. Customs
maintains a list of SCAC carrier codes that should be used for entry
transactions. Carrier codes are also validated against certain Modes of Transportation.
You should
utilize the procedures found in the ABI Queries section, to perform a Carrier
Codes Query via ABI. This is preferable to manually adding, changing or
deleting carrier code records in CHB. The procedures to process the query
results can be found in the ABI Data Exchange section and should be used to
process the ABI query results. CAUTION: The procedures described in this section should only be used in circumstances where access to ABI queries is temporarily not available and the need to edit the SCAC Carrier code file exists. |
